Takedown Statement

Georges River Libraries endeavours to provide access to images in accordance to their copyright conditions. To state the correct provenance and copyright status of all items in the collection, the Local Studies Team has researched each image to establish the correct conditions to provide access.

If copyright and provenance is unable to be established, images have been digitised in line with digitising for preservation and made available for research and study purposes with copyright statements explaining these conditions. These images are not available for purchase due to their unknown copyright.

If you have any information or concerns about the copyright or provenance of images in the collection, we encourage you to contact the Local Studies Team so that we can investigate this new information. You need to contact the library and clearly demonstrate how the image is culturally insensitive, inappropriate or offensive, or that it infringes copyright. When the library receives a takedown request, the following procedure will be used to resolve the request.

Steps taken will be:

  • The item is removed from public access when a takedown request is received.
  • Evidence is provided to the Library about how the image is culturally insensitive, inappropriate, offensive, or infringes copyright.
  • Georges River Libraries investigates the evidence provided.
  • Depending on the outcome of the investigation, one of the following steps will occur:
  • Access to the material remains unchanged on the Georges River Libraries catalogue.
  • Access to the material is restored with changes in response to the takedown request via the Georges River Libraries catalogue.
  • Access to the material is modified (e.g. online access changed to onsite only access, access restricted to members only or to a particular group).
  • Material is retained in the Georges River Libraries collection but access is removed.
  • Material is removed from the Georges River Libraries website and/or collection.
